Green Commitment
SAGE Crossing Foundation is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Northeast Horticultural Therapy Association, Inc., and the Northeast Organic
Farming Association/Massachusetts. The green part of our concept is important.
Though we cannot solve the problems of global warming, pollution, the wasting of natural resources, and the escalation of
autism and other disorders and illnesses, we can be a part of the solution. By committing ourselves to an environmentally
exemplary farmstead, we are also sending society a message: mentally challenged adults can fully participate in confronting
the problems that face all of us.
As part of our green commitment, we will farm organically, and build LEED-certified cottages for living; upgrade old or existing farm buildings to “green” standards by adding solar panels and using recycled materials; collect food scraps from local colleges and schools to feed our animals, and collect cardboard and scrap paper for recycling at the farm. Only non-toxic cleaners will be used.
