Sage: The Elm Hill Project
June 14th-25th, 2010 in Brookfield, MA
A Special Thanks for Those Who Have Contributed!
We have raised enough money to cover the cost of the chicken coop! Thanks again to all who helped!
Beginning on June 14th, SAGE will sponsor an exciting and innovative summer farm program for autistic adults. The location is The
Elm Hill Center (formerly Elm Hill Farm), one time home of Elsie the Cow, and a property listed on the National Historic Register. Here,
along with horticulture, animal care, and other farm-related work, we will build something the farm really needs: a chicken coop!
Supported by staff, volunteers, and an Occupational Therapist, these first time farmers will be learning how to build a coop. For this exciting and ambitious
project, SAGE needs your help.
There are three ways you can help Sage with this project.
- donate to a particular category of lumber or, for larger donations, a complete item (please see our list)
- donate to the coop as a whole and we will apply your donation to the materials we still need
- donate surplus building material (see below for who to contact)
Pick the one most convenient for you.
If you can donate money for the chicken coop, please use the SAGE website to make a PayPal donation. Add an email to
linda@sagecrossingfoundation.org, explaining how you want your donation used.
Or, if you prefer, send a check to SAGE Crossing Foundation, c/o Linda H. Davis,
President, 69 Lancaster County Rd, Harvard, MA 01451, specifying the use of the donation.
A detailed view of our plans for the coop and items/amounts we need to help complete the project are available here.
SAGE will immortalize each one of its donors by placing their names on a plaque in a well-placed spot inside the chicken coop.
Donors who wish to pay for a more expensive item, such as a water trough, will get their names on those items, as well. In addition, we will honor you on our
website and in our newsletter.
If you have lumber to donate, please contact our builder jbradford@stillriverretire.com (please
include "Sage chicken coop project" in your subject line).
To help you determine if your lumber might be helpful, plans and materials needed for the coop can be found here.
